It's Closing Time

Thought I would take a moment to keep everyone that is interested up to date.  As most of you know I did reopen to new orders.  With that, came a slam of new orders.  I didn't realize how many I had until a couple of days ago.  The day after I opened is when I began experiencing bouts of terrible migraines again (this is a daily thing, not a weekly, or a couple of days a week, this is severe, can't do ANYTHING migraines, that don't just go away, they simply either weaken or strengthen.  I've learned to work through the mild ones but these severe ones, I can't possibly work with.)  I was also diagnosed with Anemia, which means that explains my extreme fatigue.  When I shut down, this means, my housework also comes to a halt.  My husband tries, but let's face it, he's a man, and men just don't do the cleaning necessary for a family household.  My children miss me when I'm in my funk.  SO when I'm out of the funk I have to be sure to spend quality time with them.  They are soooo desperate to spend time with me that they fight over who gets to rub my feet with lotion when I am having a severe migraine!!!  (So I give them my arms to do too!)

That being said.  My much anticipated quick turnaround time has disappeared :(  I can't help it.  It's completely out of my control.  If you can't wait or don't like waiting, please send me a pleasant email requesting a refund, I'll be happy to comply.  I promise I work as often and as quickly as I can.  That's all I can offer you.

I do have a goal (very reasonable goal) to have every order OUT by June 1.  Then I will be out of state for the entire month of June (and the beginning of July!!).  A MUCH needed vacation and opportunity to visit with family and friends.  I will be working, a little.  As much of my family and friends do still work  and/or go to school.  But it will be limited.  I think it will just be ready to ship.  I'll probably do a handful of camera pals, then a bunch of basic beanies with fun accessories.  (to start with) I'll probably do a few fun designs that I've been dying to try out! I won't do photo props during that time, as those take up space, and when traveling with 3 young children, I need all the space I can spare.

As many of you also know, my paypal account was hacked.  I did receive my refund.  SO all packages that are ready to ship will ship either later this afternoon or early tomorrow morning.  Reminder, I do have a note that dictates where your order is on my list.  If your name is not on the list, please do not be nasty with me.  I try to stay as organized as possible, but some orders do fall through the cracks (which is why I prefer etsy... I can stay organized with those purchases).  Simply email me and let me know kindly.  Don't assume I know who you are, b/c I receive sooo many emails a day, I can't possibly keep them all straight, I try, but I can't.

Thank you all for being oh so kind and patient with me.  Please continue to keep me in your thoughts and prayers, as my medical condition is actually still not fully diagnosed.  There are lots of unanswered questions.  I love providing you with affordable knits, so I won't stop until I absolutely have to... but the shop will be closed to custom orders until further notice.  Thank you again!!

Baby steps...

Once again, I'd like to thank you guys for being oh so patient with me at this crazy time in my life.   I truly have the best customers ever.

I have been slowly working at getting back on track.  Key word here is SLOWLY.  I have literally been working at the speed of a snail.  I've gotten these terrible migraines (which I have had before) that don't go away at all.  I spend much of my days in the dark confinements of my living room.  I am able to get little bits of work done, that doesn't require thinking.    That is as along as there aren't other triggers causing more pain.  3 young children running around, begging for attention is definitely a major trigger.  I've also been over come with nausea and fatigue  (hello, I thought I was no longer pregnant, shouldn't this too have passed), which I'm sure is linked to the migraines.

I know you guys don't need to know all of these details.  However, I feel so guilty that you all have waited 5-8 weeks for your items.  I want you to know that I'm doing everything in my power to get these out to you.

I did post this part in my last update, but wanted to repeat (although no one has emailed me regarding the last post)  if you no longer want/need your items or just tired of waiting, please send a kind email requesting a refund, and I'll be happy to comply.  knitsbyroma@gmail.com

I can't thank you all enough for the kind words, encouragement, patience, and sweetness behind each of you!  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Also, if you are from my etsy page, please add us on facebook... facebook.com/creationsbyroma  for more frequent updates.

An explanation

First off thank you so much for being a fan of "Knits by Roma".  I'm truly humbled that so many people are interested in my props and hats.  Thank you so much for making Knits by Roma what it is today.

Now, on to the purpose of this blog (I wish it wasn't the reason for it, believe me!!).  While all of you have been ever so patient with me... as it seems there's always an excuse for my delays in sending out orders, I feel that you, the paying customers, deserve an explanation for the wait for your items.  Most of the orders pending are from the "Matt & Lori fire auction" another small portion is from the "HunnyBunny Auction" and the remainder is Etsy orders.  You may have noticed that my etsy page is on "vacation mode", although I am far from being on vacation.

On February 22 (while I was at the top of my game, making sure I had your items out in a very timely manner) I discovered I was expecting!!  Came as a bit of a surprise but made me over joyed of course!  If I didn't find out that day, I would have the following day, like clockwork, my morning sickness began.  Constant nausea bottled on top of constant heart burn, combined with non-stop fatigue and my prior to pregnancy migraines(which have increasingly gotten worse).  With 3 small children (twin 4 year olds and a 5 year old) it got very difficult to do anything.

We had planned a trip to visit our family over the weekend of March 4-6.  It was supposed to be a joyous event.  However on March 3, one of our family members passed away, putting a lull on our moods.  My heart goes out to my 3 cousins, who lost their father.  To add to it, another family member was hospitalized to stop the birth of her too small twins, the same day!  This series of events is what stopped the packages that were supposed to go out that weekend.  I was fine though, I just KNEW I would be able to ship them out on Monday.  Boy was I in for a rude awakening.

On the morning of March 7, I discovered a major pregnancy complication, which prompted lots of pain and a few labs and tests.  After that Dr visit, I just knew I was going to lose my baby. This is what prompted me to put all orders on standby.   All week I tried so hard to work on the hats... but my mind would wonder and I would end up making a lopsided ear or completely wrong stitch., or I would start having excruciating pain, leaving me in tears.  Friday morning, I received the phone call that I both waited for and dreaded.  I have been miscarrying all week, just shy of 7 weeks gestational.  The process still isn't over and neither is the physical or emotional pain.  I have been able to focus and relax enough to work in small intervals of time.  So I've been trying to put those finishing touches on those auction items and get them ready for shipping.  Many are completed, just waiting for that proper packaging/addressing/etc.  There are coupons in every order as well... as an extreme apology.    Pending no further complications, I am confident that I will be shipping out these orders on Thursday of this week.

I feel awful that every time I get on a good turn around time, some thing happens.  Again PLEASE accept my apologies.   If you have placed an order and either no longer need/want the item or you're just tired of the wait, please EMAIL me a kind email requesting a refund.  I will be happy to return your payment.  knitsbyroma@gmail.com

Thank you again for your kind patronage.
